Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire

Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire is an interesting comedy show by Comedy Central. The show follows Krod Mandoon (Sean Maguire) as the worry-full leader of a group of rebels out to fight the evil Chancellor Dongalor (Matt Lucas). Accompanying him are Aneka (India de Beaufort), a beautiful and skilled pagan warrior who uses sex as a weapon; Loquasto (Steve Speirs), a human-pig-hybrid archer who rarely hits the target; Zezelryck (Kevin Hart) a young sorcerer who only knows how to make excuses for his lack of magic; and Bruce (Marques Ray), a gay capable fighter.

The plot of the story is very straight forward, predictable and boring. Moreover there were a lot of scenes that does not connect to any dot until after a few minutes of watching. Few of them are total crap with respect to the story (but completely funny). Aside from the actors that played Dongalor, Zezelryck and Bruce, acting was a level below mediocre. Aside from Dongalor, Zezelryck and Bruce, all of the characters acting doesn't give that feel of realism.

Humor on the show is derived from parodies and references from different things; from famous films to culturally inspired events. Most, if not all scenes are inspired by recent or current issue, or a well known tradition. Moreover, the chemistry of the ensemble and how their combined idiocy to make a serious or dire situation becomes a laughing matter is impressive. Individually, the members of the rag-tag rebels, may seem ordinary but together they bring out the laugh of each other.

All in all, Krod Mandoon can make you laugh. It is not a show that will win awards or something that will last, but if it made you giggle, then it served its purpose. And factoring in the fact that this is a 30 minute show, its perfect to watch in between study sessions or work overtimes.

Here are episodes 1 and 2.
